Cascade is great community to be a part of. Being a part of a small close knit community has given me a wonderful opportunity to discover the generous, quirky, and delightful nature of the students here. It is a joy to see and help in their development in growing up to be conscientious and generous adults. It is a privilege to create and make music with the students at Cascade Schools. Your children are a great reflection of the community and home town values of working hard, doing your best, and serving others.
I was born and raised in Eastern Washington. I grew up singing, playing piano, and any other instrument I could get my hands on. I studied piano and voice all through my college career. In 1993 I graduated with an Associates of Arts and Sciences from BYU Idaho. I performed in music theater productions, was a collaborative pianist, rehearsal accompanist, and held leadership roles in choir ensembles. I also participated in student government. In 1999 I graduated from CWU with a Bachelors of Music. I am blessed to have a wonderful and supportive husband. We enjoy our large family of 4 sons and 3 daughters. I returned to school at BSU to complete my teaching certificate, graduating in 2019 with a Bachelors of Music Education.
I love movies! I enjoy watching classics, musicals from the golden age, period dramas, Star Wars, Marvel (Thor is my favorite!), and Lord of the Rings. My favorite period drama book and movie is Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. I listen to all varieties of music and in the moment each is my favorite. I love to read books too! To relax I engage in creating needlepoint and crochet. I enjoy cooking and baking. As a family we like to get in the car and see where the road leads, unpaved roads are best. Chocolate is my favorite food, a good authentic street taco and tamales, along with a hearty soup and scrumptious sandwich. I enjoy socializing, helping others, loving on my children, and hanging out with my husband. Fun fact: I was delivered in the back seat of the family car by my grandmother, hence my name-Valine. (pronounced: Vuh-leen). When I was 25 I drove across the country from Washington state to Key West Florida on my own. Even racing away from a tornado in the Midwest!
