Head Athletics Coach

PURPOSE

Provide all student/athletes a safe, positive experience, and the opportunity to develop their skills mentally and physically.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Collect and keep on file all required medical and parent consent forms

Enforce and model professionalism, discipline, and sportsmanship at all times

Exhibit respect and dignity for all student/athletes, officials, and spectators at all times

Support and adhere to policies and rules established by the State Association, Board of Education, Long PinLeague, the school district, and school

Accountable for issuing, collecting, and inventorying all equipment and uniforms

Plan and organize safe and effective practices that emphasize team unity and the development of the basic fundamentals and skills of the activity

Maintain a 3-year plan and build goals built on current and expected athletes and conditions

Establish consistent and fair team guidelines for all student/athletes

Work cooperatively with the activity director in setting up facilities and securing personnel for the game and meet management

Conduct postseason assessment of assistant coaches

Prepare budget requests and equipment recommendations for the activity director

Establish appropriate guidelines and supervise players behavior and conduct in the locker rooms and on school buses

Build and promote interest and enthusiasm for the activity program to students, staff, and parents

Attend all activity meetings that are scheduled

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

QUALIFICATIONS


Hold a valid teaching certificate or an NFHS/ASEP Coach's Certification

Knowledge and ability to perform assigned coaching task

Able to promote a positive athletic environment for both students and parents

Previous paid coaching experience

Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in-person; Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions, operate a motor vehicle and review, evaluate, and prepare a variety of written/typed documents and text materials; Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and a personal computer and to make adjustments to equipment; Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to drive a motor vehicle, lift 20 pounds, sit and work at a computer keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office environment.
