Message from the Principal

Bathroom Procedures - Classroom instructional time is considered sacred time in our day to day operations.  There has been some confusion and many questions raised about a change in the bathroom usage policy or procedure.  There is NO new bathroom policy, our procedure is to ask kids to use the restroom during their passing times or only when there is an emergency.  We are all human and recognize that he need to go will arise, we are diligently working to help kids to manage their time and themselves wisely when they have the chance to outside of instructional time.  Each teacher is encouraged and supported to manage their classrooms as they see best fit to match what is happening in the classroom.

Increase in ISAT English Language Arts (ELA) - We experienced a growth on our ELA ISATs of 10.2% last year and are excited to share that news.  We have adopted a very strong ELA curriculum and are monitoring student progress closely; we look forward to the amazing growth that will come from the hard work and dedication this year.

Celebration of the week - I had 2 different entities outside of the school community mention to me personally how responsive, positive, and forward thinking Cascade kids were with them directly.  We have great kids at Cascade Schools - thanks for sending them to us every day!

K-3 Literacy Growth:  Our K-3 grades was recognized recently for the accomplishment of having some of the highest growth in the State of Idaho for the Early Literacy Reading Assessment called the Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI).  Cascade will be featured in a series of articles by Idaho Ed News for the accomplishment and for the purpose of sharing with other schools what is working well for us.  Cascade had approximately 35.3% growth on the IRI for the 2018-19 school year, higher than Horseshoe Bend, Council, and Barbara Morgan Elementary.  We are so proud of the hard work put in by our students, staff, and families!

Math ISAT Growth:  Cascade Jr/Sr high displayed above the average for other schools across the State of Idaho this past Spring.  Cascade experienced a 61.9% growth compared to the State average of 54.2%.  Overall, our percentage point change from last year to this year was 11.2% increase.  These are both huge accomplishments that every Rambler Family should be proud of!  Go Ramblers!!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
