5th Grade Teacher

I am extremely excited to become part of the faculty (and family) of the Cascade School District. I have heard wonderful things about my group of upcoming 5th graders, administration, colleagues, parents, and the community. I truly believe that building relationships, whether personally or professionally, is so important in life.
Mr. Lavin can now say that he has been teaching for over 30 years. He has taught 4th, 5th, 6th and has even been an assistant principal. He started his career at St. Mary's School in Boise, worked close to 20 years in the West Ada School District, taught in the Middleton School District, and most recently taught 5th grade at North Star Charter School in Eagle. He has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Boise State University and an M.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho. Mr. Lavin and his wife (Lisa) have a daughter (Kaylee, 22) who recently graduated from Colorado State University and a son (Ian, 20) who will be returning to the University of Utah to begin his junior year. Mr. Lavin is also a licensed fishing guide in the states of Idaho and Oregon.
Mr. Lavin's interests include running, fishing, hiking, hunting, and spending time with his family. One of his favorite places to visit is the Columbia River where he guides fishing trips for walleye. Mr. Lavin also loves Lake Cascade where he guides ice fishing trips for trout and perch.
