Important Information About Our Upcoming School LevyDear Parents, Staff, and Community Members,
As we get closer to the vote on the supplemental levy, I want to take a moment to explain the financial side of the levy and what it means for our community. There are questions about how much the levy will cost, so I want to be as clear and open as possible.
How Much Will the Levy Cost? The levy will last for two years and will cost taxpayers approximately $161.08 per year for a home valued at $400,000. For most households, this breaks down to about $13.42 per month, which is similar to the cost of a footlong Subway sandwich.
How We Compare to Other Districts It’s worth noting that the majority of Idaho School Districts run supplemental levies to sustain the levels of education that the community desires. At Cascade, we’ve worked hard to keep the cost as low as possible while still providing the programs and services our students need to be successful later in life.
Why We Need This Levy This levy is necessary because state funding alone doesn’t cover everything our schools need. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to keep offering important programs like the arts, athletics, and extra academic support. The levy helps us bridge that funding gap so we can continue to give our students the best education possible.
Keeping You Informed We want to make sure you have all the information you need to feel confident about the levy. If you have any questions or want more details, please visit our website linked below or join us at the community forums listed on the website. We are committed to being transparent and making sure you understand exactly how your money will be used.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools. Together, we can keep our school district strong and ensure that our students have the resources they need to succeed.
Best regards, Joni Stevenson Superintendent, Cascade School District joni@cascadeschools.org, (208)630-6057 ext. 2202
