As we head into Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. Your support, encouragement, and partnership make a world of difference in our students' success and growth.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with your amazing children each day, and we hope this holiday brings you plenty of time to relax, reconnect, and recharge. Whether your break is filled with turkey, pie, or just some extra time to sleep in, we wish you a wonderful holiday season! And because we couldn’t resist sharing a little humor with you:
What side dish do you bring to Thanksgiving if you want to make everyone smile? Corny jokes! 🌽
Thank you for all you do to make our school a warm and welcoming place. Happy Thanksgiving!

Silzly's SectionThis last week I was able to attend a conference with board members and other staff members from the Cascade School District. It is always my objective to take something, even if it is just one thing back to my job as a school administrator to help me improve as a leader. Well that was easy because this conference was incredible! My favorite presentation was about growth mindset. I have always been intrigued with mindset and the power it has over how we as individuals are able to tackle our day! I would encourage you all to consider sitting down with a great book on positive mindset this winter because it really could make a difference in your lives like it has mine.
We wish you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving Break! See you Monday, December 2!

Student's Senior Project Brings Comfort and Reflection to Crown Point CemeteryOn Friday, November 15, Kayla Boring-Bartlett unveiled a heartfelt senior project: handcrafted benches installed at Crown Point Cemetery. The project was completed with guidance from John Fouts and Anetia, her Crown Point advisor.
Motivated by a desire to give back to her community and honor her personal journey of healing, Kayla took on this initiative with profound dedication. The cemetery holds special significance for Kayla, as it is the resting place of her late mother. “Having benches in the cemetery where my mother was buried has had a big impact on me emotionally,” Kayla shared. “This project helped me realize how I still needed to heal from the grief I’ve already gone through.”
The benches provide a serene space for visitors to reflect, grieve, and find comfort. For Kayla, this project was more than just a community service effort—it was a deeply personal endeavor that allowed her to connect with others through shared experiences.
"Giving back to the community was honestly in my heart, as soon as I found out what a senior project was," Kayla explained. "In doing this project, I have left my mark not just at home but on people’s lives."
The Crown Point community applauds Kayla's commitment to service and her ability to transform a personal challenge into a gift of compassion and reflection for all.

Promoting Time Management SkillsTime management is an important life skill that some children with special needs find challenging. Helping your child break larger tasks into smaller steps, setting timers, and providing clear expectations can reduce frustration and improve productivity. Parents can also teach time estimation techniques, such as predicting how long tasks will take and adjusting plans if needed. Developing these skills early will help children manage their time effectively as they grow.
